Creating the Fake Blood - Mae and Charlotte

We used tomato ketchup, brown sauce, apple and blackcurrant juice and water to create the effect of blood that we wanted. We were unsure if this would work or not so we had to do a few experiments and keep adding different amounts of the mixtures into it to get the right colour and texture.  The mixture at first looked a little bit too orange, however once we added more juice it gave a good reddish colour that when put on the floor it looked fairly effective. We also had to make sure we did not use anything such as red food colouring that would stain the floor or our actors hair.

Here is a video of us creating the mixture for the blood:

We placed kitchen roll across and underneath our actors head to ensure that the fake blood did not get on her hair or face when applying it as she had to go straight to college after filming. This worked well and using a birds eye view angle we were able to make it look like the blood was coming from her head without getting any on her face or hair.

Here is the clips that we used in our film where we applied the fake blood. We feel that the high angle of the shots made the blood look realistic and it has given the effect that we wanted.
