Practice for pushing down stairs - Mae, Imo and Charlotte

The Push

Here is a discussion we had about how we would make it look like 'Louise' had actually been pushed down the stairs by 'Becca'. We decided that going from a side angle would be the best way as the wall would hide the fact that we had Imo and Charlotte standing below our actor Megan ready to hold her if she did fall accidently and Megan just stepped down a couple of stairs with Phoebe pushing her giving the effect that she has fallen.

The Sound

 We decided that we would use sound to create the effect that Louise has been pushed down the stairs, and have a low angle shot of 'Becca' from halfway down the stairs looking on as Louise falls, and through this we would add a Foley

of Louise's body falling down.

We tried using different bags to drop down the stairs to give the right effect. A bag with clothes in sounded too light and soft so we decided to put some shoes in it to give it more weight which worked better, however when we dropped the rucksack it sounded too plastic and therefore we tried wrapping coats around.

 Above are two videos of us creating the foley of Louise's body falling, we had to experiment a little bit to get the right sound, which we then recorded properly on a microphone.

The landing position

We also had to think about how Louise would land at the bottom of the stairs, here is a video of us experimenting and trying to get the right position in which she could land that would be visible from the top of the stairs.
